North Sea Group is a company (established in January 2009) born from the merger of Van der Sluijs Groep and FNR+ Holding, which included companies such as Frisol, North Sea Petroleum and Reinplus Vanwoerden. With 90 years in logistics and inland trading, Van der Sluijs Groep was a perfect match for the bunkering and international trading business of the FNR+ companies. The combination of logistics and trading is the strength of the company.
It was in 1918 that Ad van der Sluijs opened a bicycle shop in Geertruidenberg, the Netherlands. Soon thereafter he started selling petroleum as well. The family business grew steadily and eventually picked up a number of storage and shipping activities which become mainstays of the group by the early 1980s along with its commercial and trading ventures. The group expanded into Belgium in 1990 before taking on the German market. Van der Sluijs Groep was the largest independent player in the logistics and commercial segment in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Established in 2006 FNR+ was created as the result of a de-merger of all the bunkering and associated trading activity from Petroplus International. FNR+ (Frisol, North Sea Petroleum, Reinplus Vanwoerden) was a leader in bunkering and trading. Benefiting from 30+ years of business experience - in fact, Reinplus Vanwoerden has been supplying the Rotterdam shipping trade for more than 80 years - FNR+ has built up a solid reputation for reliability and good service. Its loyal customer base has been served by a dedicated, highly qualified and motivated workforce.
