Together with its partners North Sea Group will continue to develop renewable and cost-efficient biofuels in the years to come.
Solidaridad
The aim of the partnership with Solidaridad is to set up a certified renewable chain of sugarcane ethanol from well to wheel. Sugarcane is today’s most efficient biofuel crop and Brazil is the world’s largest producer of sugarcane ethanol. The working conditions in Brazilian ethanol factories are being monitored carefully by Solidaridad. North Sea Group buys ethanol predominantly from these Solidaridad-approved mills.
WWF Brasil
In order to set up a certified renewable chain of sugarcane ethanol from well to wheel WWF Brazil recently came on board as well. WWF Brasil runs dozens of renewable energy projects in partnership with regional NGOs, universities and government agencies, in which North Sea Group is honoured to participate.
Dutch Biomass Committee
North Sea Group is a member of the Dutch Biomass Committee, which provides advice on biomass while working to curtail any negative impact from its large-scale use. The scope of this committee extends from agriculture and energy to innovation, education and employment in the Netherlands and abroad.
Better Sugarcane Initiative (BSI)
North Sea Group is a member of the Better Sugarcane Initiative (BSI). Engaged in developing a certification system for the sugarcane and ethanol trade, BSI aims to comply with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) criteria.
